Your own API key: you pay the model directly to the provider
An API key is the access key to your account with a model provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Mistral. You store it in the AI Kit, and the provider bills every use directly to you. schnell.digital adds no markup.
- Cost transparency: you see the provider’s invoice line by line.
- Control: replace or revoke keys, or set spending limits with the provider, without involving us.
- Freedom of choice: pick the model per step, including local models with no cost per token.
- Cost control: the effort setting defines how much an agent may consume.

Enter your own numbers. 20,000 tokens per run is a reference value for a process with knowledge retrieval and several steps. €5 per 1 million tokens roughly matches the blended price of OpenAI’s GPT-5.4 at 80% input and 20% output tokens (OpenAI price list, October 2026). Smaller models cost far less, local models nothing per token.

Frequently asked questions about licence and costs
What does the licence price include?
Use of the AI Kit in the plan you choose. Cloud licences also include operation in a data centre in Germany, updates, monitoring and support. The allowances per plan are listed on the plan cards.
What costs come on top of the licence?
The model costs. You use your own API key, and the model provider bills you directly, with no markup from schnell.digital. Local models have no cost per token. Guidance for the rollout is available as consulting and integration packages, anything else as an individual service.
How long is the contract term?
The contract term is 12 months. All prices are excluding VAT.
What does the introduction cost?
You can introduce the AI Kit yourself, training and documentation are included. If you want schnell.digital to handle the introduction, consulting and integration packages start at €950. From the first call to a running pilot takes 6 to 8 weeks.
